Ingredients

  • 4 pieces chicken breasts preferably similar size for even cooking
  • 1 tsp paprika smoky flavor
  • 1 tsp dried thyme aromatic herb
  • 1 tsp garlic powder adds depth
  • to taste salt and pepper adjust according to preference
  • 1 lemon optional lemon for brightness
  • 1 tbsp olive oil spray helps with crispness and seasoning adhesion

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Meat thermometer
  • Small mixing bowl
  • Paper towels

Method

  1. Pat each chicken breast dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture, which helps the seasoning stick and promotes crispiness.
  2. Combine paprika, thyme, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a small mixing bowl, stirring well to create an even herb and spice blend.
  3. Rub the spice mixture generously all over each chicken breast, pressing it into the meat so it adheres evenly.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 200°C (390°F) while you prepare the chicken.
  5. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with olive oil spray and place the seasoned chicken breasts inside, skin-side down if applicable.
  6. Cook the chicken for 10 minutes, then flip each piece carefully and continue cooking for another 8-10 minutes until golden brown and the juices run clear.
  7. Use a meat thermometer to check that the internal temperature reaches 75°C (165°F); if not, cook a few minutes longer.
  8. Once cooked, transfer the chicken to a plate and let it rest for 5 minutes to retain its juices.
  9. Squeeze fresh lemon over the chicken for a bright, zesty finish if desired, and serve immediately.

Notes

For extra crispiness, ensure the chicken skin or surface is dry before applying the spice rub. Adjust cooking time based on chicken thickness to avoid overcooking. Using a meat thermometer guarantees perfect doneness without guesswork.
