Ingredients

  • 4 pieces chicken breasts preferably uniform in size for even cooking
  • 1 teaspoon paprika smoky flavor
  • 1 teaspoon thyme dried or fresh
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt adjust to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground if possible
  • 1 lemon lemon optional, for serving
  • 1 spray olive oil spray helps seasonings stick and crisp up

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Meat thermometer
  • Small mixing bowl
  • Paper towels

Method

  1. Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture, which helps the seasoning stick and promotes crispiness.
  2. In a small mixing bowl, combine paprika, thyme, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to create a flavorful herb and spice blend.
  3. Rub the spice mixture generously all over each chicken breast, pressing it into the meat to ensure even coating.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 200°C (390°F) for about 3 minutes. Meanwhile, spray each seasoned chicken breast lightly with olive oil spray.
  5. Place the chicken breasts in the air fryer basket, skin-side down if applicable, ensuring they are not overcrowded for proper air circulation.
  6. Cook for 10 minutes, then flip the chicken breasts over carefully with tongs.
  7. Continue cooking for an additional 8-10 minutes, or until the chicken is golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 75°C (165°F).
  8. Once cooked, remove the chicken from the air fryer and let it rest for 5 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute, keeping the meat tender and juicy.
  9. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the chicken just before serving for a bright, zesty finish.
  10. Slice the chicken and serve hot, garnished with additional herbs or your favorite sides.

Notes

Ensure chicken breasts are of similar size for even cooking. Adjust cooking time based on thickness. For extra crispiness, pat the chicken dry again before applying oil and seasoning.
